Boudoir Session Prep

BQ4A6760.jpg

Everything you need to know to prepare!

I used the specific image above to show you how unimportant your outfit choice is. Some photographers may not agree with this, but I am not photographing your clothes, I am photographing something much deeper than that, so all I ask is that you show up with something comfortable.

Confidence is the sexiest thing you can wear.

1. It’s Not About the Clothes

Your outfit choice is far less important than you think. My focus isn’t on your clothing—it’s on capturing the confident, beautiful essence of you. So, bring something that makes you feel comfortable and at ease.

2. Confidence is Key

Confidence is the sexiest thing you can wear, and it’s hard to feel confident if you’re uncomfortable.

  • Check out my Boudoir Styling Guide for tips on choosing outfits that work best for your session.

  • Don’t stress about your tummy or any other areas you might feel self-conscious about. I pose you in ways that flatter every angle—this is true for everyone!

3. Outfit Tips

  • You’ll need to bring your own outfits. Keep it simple: a bra and panties can be incredibly sexy. Or even just a flat sheet.

  • Props like robes or your partner's shirt are great and don’t count as an outfit change.

  • Expensive lingerie isn’t necessary—what matters most is how you feel in it.

  • Avoid outfits that are difficult to put on or take off. They’ll eat into your session time!

  • For a 30-minute session, plan for 2 outfits. For a 1-hour session, bring 3 outfits.

  • Read the What To Wear Guide

4. Hair & Feet

  • Leave your hair down if possible—it adds movement and playfulness to your shots.

  • Footwear isn’t necessary; barefoot looks natural and complements the indoor setting.

5. Skin & Blemishes

  • Don’t worry about minor blemishes or bruises—I’ll take care of those during post-editing.

  • However, if you participate in contact sports, be mindful of potential extensive bruising, as it can be challenging to edit.

  • Let me know in advance if there are visible scars you’d like me to retouch; otherwise, I won’t alter permanent features.

6. Practical Preparation

  • Eat a meal before your session—modeling is hard work!

  • Avoid wearing socks, tight bras, or leggings right before the shoot to prevent seam marks on your skin.

  • Please arrive with clean feet and shaved armpits/legs if that’s something you care about, as I can’t edit those details out.

7. Session Environment

  • My studio is located at 3005 32nd Street, Vernon, B.C. Please check parking details in your booking confirmation.

  • I’ll have music playing to create a relaxed atmosphere. Let me know if you have any sensitivity to fragrances, as I typically use Scentsy.

  • Props are provided, but feel free to bring something special you'd like included in your session.

8. Guests & Privacy

  • To ensure you feel completely comfortable and relaxed, no spectators or children are allowed during your session.

9. Professionalism & Boundaries

  • I’ve photographed over 1,000 boudoir sessions and bring both professionalism and comfort to each shoot. Nudity is no problem for me, and I’ll guide you through everything with care.

  • Please note that my sessions are sensual, not sexual. I do not take sexually suggestive photos or images involving explicit acts.

10. Trust the Process

  • I’m here to make you look and feel your absolute best. Trust my expertise and let me handle the details so you can relax and enjoy the experience

11. Payment

  • The remaining balance of your session is due 48 hours before your start time and can be paid by clicking View Appointment Details in your booking confirmation and reminder emails

"Had an amazing experience with Selina in my boudoir shoot, it was my first one and I was so nervous but felt so comfortable! 10/10 would recommend and I'll be going to her for any future photos I have planned!"
