Dragonfly Paint N Sip Night
Our next studio Paint N Sip Night is upon us!
Local artist, Melissa Dinwoodie, is joining us again for our 4th paint night at the Selina Photography studio. I asked Melissa if we could do a dragonfly painting this time, because dragonflies are are the Selina Photography logo. I have a beautiful connection with dragonflies.
When I was younger, I had two best friends, a brother and sister, both of whom had Friedrichs Ataxia, and both unfortunately passed away, but Gypsy got Leah's name as her middle name, and we've always said that Aunty Leah visits us a dragonfly.
Dragonflies also have a beautiful connection with symbolism and the afterlife. For those in mourning or bereavement, the dragonfly is symbolic of life after death, spirit or souls of loved ones communicating from heaven or the afterlife, or as a symbol of love and remembrance. Dragonflies also symbolize spiritual transcendence. But the dragonfly also symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life. In my life, these two things were connected and it is because of this early experience of loss, that photography became such an important part of my life.
During this time is when I truly learnt the value of a photograph.
I invite you to join me at the Selina Photography studio to create this beautiful art together, enjoy a refreshment, which could be the water, coffee or tea I will have available, or whatever beverage of choice you choose to bring. If you bring alcohol, please have a responsible way home arranged, making this an 19+ event. I have a mini fridge available to keep some drinks chilled. Melissa Dinwoodie is an Okanagan local artist, with artwork that concentrates on portraits and figurative exploration, so you should checkout all of her work on instagram at @melissadinwoodieartist and @melissadinwoodieart_emporium and of course her Facebook page.
No experience necessary because Melissa is going to talk you through it step by step.
You can bring a comfy blanket if you'd like, I'll have sturdy chairs, tables, chill music, inside of my FAVORITE place ever- my studio, where the vibes are always right. The studio and washroom are both wheelchair accessible.
There is plenty of street parking around the studio that becomes free at 6 pm and there is also a parkade across the highway by the Art Gallery if you're going to drink and want to leave your vehicle.
You do not need to print or bring your ticket but if you're purchasing more than one ticket, please add the guest names into the notes section of your order and we will have the guest list at the door. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Melissa at melissa@melissadinwoodieart.com or Selina at selina@selinaphotography.ca
If there are no tickets left, please DM the Selina Photography page or email selina@selinaphotography.ca to be put on a cancellation list.
